What is a Pledge?

A pledge is a facility that allows traders to use their existing stock holdings as collateral to get additional margin for trading.

What is the interest rate, and how is the interest calculated?

As per exchange guidelines, when trading in Futures & Options (F&O), at least 50% of the total margin must be maintained in cash,

Can pledged holdings be unpledged?

Yes, you can Unpledge Your Stocks anytime after you exit your trades and no longer require margin from the pledged securities.

Can I unpledge my holdings without selling them?

Yes, you can unpledge your stocks without selling them.

Are there any charges associated with pledging?

Yes, there are charges for both Pledging and Unpledging stocks.

Where are my stocks held when they are pledged?

Your stocks remain in your Demat account even when they are pledged. You continue to receive all corporate benefits

Can I pledge shares that I purchased the previous day?

Yes, you can pledge the shares once they are credited to your Demat account.

Why does the margin vary for different stocks?

The Margin (Haircut Percentage) varies for different stocks based on their Risk Level and Liquidity.

Why Are My Shares Not Eligible for Pledging?

Not all stocks are eligible for pledging. The list of securities that can be pledged is Updated In Real-Time by our Risk Management Team, in accordance with exchange guidelines.

I Am Not Receiving an OTP for Pledging. What Should I Do?

The OTP for pledging is sent by CDSL, not by Lakshmishree. In some cases, it may take time to arrive.
