What is the validity period of a GTT Order?

GTT (Good Till Triggered) Order is valid till cancelled. Unlike regular orders, which are valid only for the same trading day, GTT orders stay active until they are triggered or cancelled.

How Does A GTT Order Work?

  1. You place a GTT order with a trigger price and a limit price.
  2. The order remains inactive until the stock price reaches the trigger price.
  3. Once the trigger price is hit, the limit order is placed on the exchange.

Key Points:

  • GTT orders are helpful for Long-Term Investors who want to set buy/sell orders in advance without monitoring the market daily.
  • If a GTT order is partially executed, the Remaining Quantity Does Not Stay Active. Investors must place a Fresh GTT Order for the remaining quantity.

If a Corporate Action like a stock split, bonus, or dividend occurs, GTT orders may be Canceled Automatically by the system.
