Why am I restricted from trading GSM-marked stocks?

Stocks that are placed under GSM (Graded Surveillance Measure) by SEBI and stock exchanges are restricted to Protect Investors from high-risk stocks. These measures are introduced to Ensure Market Integrity and reduce speculative trading in stocks that may be manipulated or have weak fundamentals.

The restrictions on GSM-marked stocks include:

  • Lower Price Bands to prevent sudden price fluctuations.
  • Periodic Call Auctions instead of continuous trading.
  • Trade-to-Trade Settlement, meaning no intraday trading is allowed.

Regulators advise investors to conduct proper research before trading GSM-marked stocks. Due to these restrictions, trading GSM stocks may not be available on platforms like Lakshmishree.
