  • Consolidated profit after tax: ₹7,351 crore, up 40.68% year-on-year.

NTPC’s H1 FY27 Financial Performance

NTPC also reported growth in its financial performance for the first half of FY27, covering the six months ended September 30, 2026.

On a consolidated basis, the company’s profit after tax increased 25.70% to ₹14,247 crore, compared with ₹11,334 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

On a standalone basis, profit after tax rose 13.09% to ₹10,662 crore from ₹9,428 crore in H1 FY26.

The first-half performance reflects the company’s continued focus on power generation and operational efficiency.

NTPC’s Power Generation Efficiency Improves

Operational performance remained an important contributor to NTPC’s results.

During H1 FY27, NTPC’s coal-based power stations recorded a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 75.11%, compared with 68.35% for coal-based power stations across the rest of India.

Plant Load Factor measures the actual electricity generated by a power plant against the maximum electricity it could generate at full capacity over a given period. A higher PLF generally indicates better utilisation of installed generation capacity.

The company’s performance highlights the contribution of its coal-based power stations to its overall generation operations.

NTPC Declares First Interim Dividend of ₹3 Per Share

Along with its Q2 FY27 financial results, NTPC’s board declared the first interim dividend for FY27 at 30% of the paid-up equity share capital.

The dividend amounts to ₹3 per equity share, based on the face value of ₹10 per share.

The dividend announcement comes alongside the company’s growth in consolidated and standalone profitability during the September quarter.

Conclusion

NTPC’s Q2 FY27 results reflected strong year-on-year growth in consolidated profitability and revenue. The 40.68% increase in consolidated PAT was supported by higher contributions from subsidiary companies, while the company’s coal-based power stations also reported a higher Plant Load Factor than the national average during H1 FY27.

The declaration of a ₹3 interim dividend further accompanied the company’s quarterly earnings announcement. Going forward, power generation performance, operational efficiency and contributions from subsidiaries will remain important factors to watch in NTPC’s financial performance.
