Zomato to Replace JSW Steel in Sensex from December 23

Zomato will be added to the benchmark Sensex index, replacing JSW Steel, starting December 23, according to an announcement by BSE on November 22. This move is part of a broader reconstitution of BSE indices, including BSE Sensex 50, BSE Sensex Next 50, and BSE 100.

Key changes to the BSE 100 index include dropping Ashok Leyland, PI Industries, IDFC First Bank, IRCTC, UPL, and APL Apollo Tubes, while adding Jio Financial Services, Suzlon Energy, Adani Green Energy, Adani Power, Samvardhana Motherson, and PB Fintech.

In the case of BSE Sensex 50, HDFC Life, BPCL, and LTI Mindtree will make way for Zomato, Jio Financial, and HAL. In the case of BSE Sensex Next 50, companies that will face exclusion are Zomato, HAL, and a few more, while, Adani Green Energy, BPCL, LTIMindtree, and a few others will be included.

Governance Updates: Under governance updates, SEBI has approved the appointment of Subhasis Chaudhuri as the Chairman of BSE’s Governing Board with effect from November 21, 2024. BSE also said the trading in futures and options contracts in 43 stocks will begin with effect from December 13, 2024.
