As a result, the stock was delisted from all BSE indices at opening for trading in Wednesday\u2019s session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Index Funds Offload Shares Post-Exclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With ITC Hotels\u2019 removal from Sensex, index funds holding its shares were forced to rebalance their portfolios, leading to significant sell-offs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Index funds sold shares worth over \u20b9400 crore<\/strong> following its exclusion from the Sensex.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional <strong>selling of \u20b9700 crore<\/strong> is anticipated upon its removal from the <strong>NSE Nifty 50<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this, ITC Hotels\u2019 stock remained resilient, trading 1.3% higher at \u20b9165.9 per share on the NSE at 9:40 AM, compared to the previous session\u2019s closing price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ITC Hotels\u2019 Market Debut and Demerger Details<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ITC Hotels shares were listed on January 29 without an IPO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Listing Price on NSE:<\/strong> \u20b9180 per share<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Listing Price on BSE:<\/strong> \u20b9188 per share<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Implied Price Before Listing:<\/strong> \u20b9260 per share<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Discount at NSE Listing:<\/strong> Nearly <strong>31% below the implied price<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The listing followed the demerger of ITC Hotels from its parent company, ITC Ltd., a strategic move aimed at unlocking shareholder value. The demerger was structured to directly issue equity shares of ITC Hotels to existing ITC shareholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Demerger Ratio and Shareholding Structure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ITC Ltd. had announced the demerger plan last year, with the following share distribution ratio:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For every 10 shares of ITC Ltd. held (as of January 6, 2025), investors received 1 share of ITC Hotels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Post-demerger, the <strong>ownership structure<\/strong> of ITC Hotels is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>60% stake<\/strong> is now directly held by <strong>ITC shareholders<\/strong>, proportionate to their shareholding in ITC Ltd.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>40% stake<\/strong> remains under <strong>ITC Ltd.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The move is expected to help ITC Hotels grow independently in the hospitality sector while allowing ITC Ltd. to focus on its core businesses, including FMCG, tobacco, and agribusiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have a news tip for Lakshmishree reporters?
