BEML, a prominent player under the Ministry of Defence, has secured a Rs 866.87-crore contract from Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, to build India’s first indigenous bullet train sets. The contract includes the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of two high-speed train sets, each consisting of eight cars, with a top speed of 280 kmph. The project marks a significant milestone in India’s high-speed rail journey, aiming for delivery by 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The train sets will be manufactured at BEML’s Bengaluru rail coach complex. Scheduled to operate on the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor, which is expected to be functional by 2027, these trains will feature a fully air-conditioned chair car configuration and modern passenger amenities, including reclining and rotatable seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICF, owned by Indian Railways and known as the world’s largest rail coach manufacturer, emphasized the project’s importance in advancing India’s rail infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
