The <strong>Sensex<\/strong> crossed the <strong>83,000 mark<\/strong> for the first time ever, closing at <strong>82,962<\/strong>, a rise of <strong>1.77%<\/strong> or <strong>1,440 points<\/strong>. The total market capitalization of <strong>BSE-listed companies<\/strong> hit a new high of <strong>Rs 467.22 lakh crore<\/strong>, up <strong>1.4%<\/strong> from the previous day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also saw gains, ending up 1.32% and 0.8%, respectively.
