On World EV Day, September 9, Mahindra & Mahindra’s electric vehicle arm, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML), introduced its upcoming commercial electric four-wheeler, the \u2018e-ZEO\u2019. The name stands for “Zero Emission Option,” reflecting the vehicle\u2019s eco-friendly benefits. Designed to compete with internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in the small commercial vehicle (SCV) sector, the \u2018e-ZEO\u2019 features a high-voltage architecture that promises improved energy efficiency, extended driving range, faster charging, and cost-effective solutions for businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘e-ZEO has been termed important; by Suman Mishra, Managing Director and CEO, MLMML, who said ‘e-ZEO is in tune with worldwide initiatives to ramp up electric vehicle adoption, especially in the sub-two-tonne category. Official launches of the vehicle would begin on October 3, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes on the back of Mahindra & Mahindra having announced its plan to invest Rs 12,000 crore over a three-year period in its electric vehicle unit, Mahindra Electric Automobile, thereby marking a greater focus and shift for the company toward electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 15, Mahindra re-pledged to electric mobility during the event graced by CEO Rajesh Jejurikar-a call for a national mission on EVs, urging the government to come up with some incentives to propel the EV segment forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
