TCS Bags Rs 2,903 Crore Order from BSNL to Boost 4G Mobile Network Infrastructure Across India

India’s top IT services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has received a new purchase order worth Rs 2,903 crore from BSNL to support the expansion of its 4G mobile network. This new order is an add-on to an earlier Advance Purchase Order (APO) and includes complete support for planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and annual maintenance at 18,685 mobile sites across the country.

The order announcement was made on May 21 through an exchange filing ahead of the market opening. Following the news, TCS shares opened with slight gains at Rs 3,503.20 per share.

Meanwhile, Tejas Networks, a telecom equipment company, also confirmed that it will supply Radio Access Network (RAN) and other key equipment worth Rs 1,525.53 crore to TCS as part of this BSNL 4G project.

TCS said the further details about the order will be communicated by BSNL once the documentation has been completed and fulfillment of some conditions under the APO. The new contract comes on top of the current contract for Rs 15,000 crore already won by TCS from BSNL. The massive project entails the installation of 4G towers, building data centres, and groundwork for the rollout of 5G services in India in the future.

TCS CEO K K Krithivasan previously said that the BSNL project is already 70 percent done, and its revenue effect will decrease gradually from the fourth quarter of FY25 onwards. TCS is currently in the process of identifying new projects to offset the gap, he said.

TCS stocks have been slightly volatile in the past few days, dropping almost 1 percent in the past 5 trading sessions. Yet, the stock is up 6 percent in the past month and has risen more than 14.5 percent in 2025 till now.

On the financial side, the firm reported its net profit 2 percent lower year on year at Rs 12,224 crore for the quarter ending March 2025. However, its revenue from operations grew 5.3 percent year on year at Rs 64,479 crore, marking consistent business expansion in the face of global economic downturn in the IT segment.
