Nvidia, the leading AI chip manufacturer, has commenced the delivery of its newest AI chips, including the GH200 AI, to major Indian partners like Tata Communications and Jio Platforms. These companies are leveraging advanced technology to build AI-cloud infrastructure across India.
Vishal Dhupar, Nvidia’s managing director for South Asia, confirmed the ongoing deployment, stating, “Yes, the deployment is ongoing by our partners, and we are delivering products to them.” This move comes amid concerns over potential delays as companies vie for a larger share of the burgeoning AI market.
In September, Nvidia announced strategic partnerships with Reliance and Tata group companies to develop AI-powered supercomputers, AI clouds, and generative AI applications. Tata Communications MD and CEO AS Lakshminarayanan noted that some chips had already been received and were currently being installed.
Hiranandani Group’s Yotta Data Services also reported receiving an initial batch of 4,000 H100 Tensor Core GPUs from Nvidia in March. The company plans to expand its GPU infrastructure to 32,768 units by the end of 2025.
The GH200 Grace Hopper platform, named after the pioneering computer scientist, is Nvidia’s latest architecture designed for AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and data analytics. It integrates advanced technologies for superior performance and efficiency.
Dhupar emphasized Nvidia’s focus on addressing “hard problems” for India through these partnerships, rather than merely chasing market share. He stated, “I build markets… I build industries,” highlighting the company’s commitment to long-term problem-solving and market creation for broader economic benefits.
