Global IT services firm NTT DATA has acquired Niveus Solutions, a Udupi-based cloud engineering company, to address the rising global demand for advanced cloud solutions. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This acquisition adds 1,000 GCP engineering professionals to NTT DATA and enhances its GCP-native modernization, data engineering, and AI-driven solutions capability. In this respect, NTT DATA can provide tailored-built cloud platform solutions for several industries: financial services, manufacturing, the automotive sector, retail, and logistics.
This is the second big acquisition in the port city of Udupi from a Japanese company. The earlier one was in August 2021, by Technopro Holdings, an integrated global technology services provider, which acquired Robosoft Technologies for Rs 805 crore. These deals suggest Karnataka’s “Beyond Bengaluru” initiative to promote other tech hubs across the state as well.
Demand for cloud services keeps increasing worldwide. According to Gartner, end-user spending on public cloud services will reach $679 billion in 2024 and is expected to surpass $1 trillion by 2027. With the acquisition, NTT DATA cements its position among the largest Google Cloud partners in the world and reaffirms its commitment to delivering innovative data analytics and generative AI, Gen AI, solutions in close cooperation with Google Cloud.
Charlie Li, Head of Cloud and Security Services at NTT DATA, said,
“The acquisition of Niveus Solutions firmly positions us as a leading Google Cloud powerhouse and one of the largest system integrator partners for Google Cloud globally.”
The transaction is expected to close in the next 30-60 days, subject to regulatory approvals.
The deal reflects Udupi’s growing importance in India’s tech landscape. In 2015, Adani Power acquired Lanco Infratech’s Udupi Power Plant for ₹6,300 crore, marking one of the largest takeovers in the thermal power sector.
