NSE Sets November 2 as Record Date for 4:1 Bonus Share Issue

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has set November 2, 2024, as the record date for its upcoming bonus share issuance, as decided during a board meeting on September 17. Shareholders on record by this date will be eligible to receive four bonus shares for every one share they hold. This bonus issue had been approved earlier this year by the NSE board in May.

Although it is not listed publicly, the issuance of bonus shares shows that this is a strategic way in which current shareholders are being rewarded. It has also been announced by the exchange that its register of members and share transfer books shall remain closed from October 4 to November 2, 2024. No requests for share transfer would be processed during this period, and it shall be accepting only applications submitted prior to October 4.

Subsequently, the market regulator closed the proceedings in the case relating to NSE’s co-location services by exonerating its former officials Ravi Narain, Chitra Ramkrishna, and Anand Subramanian of the charges. The case had originated from an order by SAT, pending the appeals involving the exchange and broker OPG Securities.
