Maruti Suzuki India reported a 2% year-on-year increase in total sales for September, reaching 1,84,727 units, as per a company statement. This compares to 1,81,343 units sold in the same month last year.
While domestic passenger vehicle sales dropped by 4%, amounting to 1,44,962 units, the mini-segment cars like Alto and S-Presso witnessed a slight increase, with 10,363 units sold. However, compact models such as the Baleno, Celerio, and Swift saw a decline, with 60,480 units sold, down from 68,551 last year.
Maruti’s utility vehicle segment, featuring popular models like Brezza and Ertiga, showed a 4% growth, recording 61,549 units in sales. Vans, including the Eeco, also grew to 11,908 units, while the Super Carry light commercial vehicle saw a rise to 3,099 units.
Export performance was strong, with 27,728 units shipped overseas, improving from 22,511 units in September last year.
