Japanese Investors Hold Rs 2.06 Lakh Crore in Indian Stocks

Foreign portfolio investors from Japan account for a substantial presence, with their investments amounting to Rs 2.06 lakh crore or close to 3% of the total FPI exposure in Indian equities.

NSDL data showed that, as of June, total AUC of Japanese FPIs stood at Rs2.17 lakh crore, of which equities accounted for Rs 2.06 lakh crore. Japan is ranked ninth across the whole range of assets contributing to the total AUC of the FPIs.

Japanese AUC of Rs 7.15 trillion translates to a 2.88% share of total AUC in equity. In terms of mere exposure to equity, this ranks Japanese FPIs as the eighth largest block in the Indian stock market for pulling in foreign funds.
