Shares of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) opened nearly 7 percent higher on April 16 after the company posted strong financial results for the March 2025 quarter. The company’s net profit rose sharply by 49 percent to Rs 501.55 crore, compared to Rs 337.39 crore in the same quarter last year. The solid growth came mainly due to strong performance in its core lending business.
IREDA’s revenue from operations increased by 37 percent year-on-year to Rs 1,905.06 crore. Its interest income rose over 40 percent to Rs 1,861.14 crore. However, total expenses during the quarter also went up 41 percent to Rs 1,284.75 crore.
At 9:30 am, IREDA shares were trading at Rs 178.45 on NSE, up by 6.9 percent from the previous close. On April 15, a day before the results, the stock had already jumped over 9 percent to close at Rs 168.16, showing that investors were already optimistic about the results.
Despite the strong earnings for the quarter, IREDA’s profit margins for the full year saw a slight dip. The net profit margin for FY25 was 25.14 percent, compared to 25.22 percent in FY24. The operating margin also fell to 31.01 percent from 33.92 percent a year earlier.
The company’s loan book grew by 28 percent year-on-year to reach Rs 76,250 crore in FY25. Loan sanctions went up by 27 percent to Rs 47,453 crore, and loan disbursements increased 20 percent to Rs 30,168 crore. This growth shows rising demand for renewable energy financing in the country.
Although the stock has gained more than 20 percent in the last one month, it is still down over 24 percent in 2025 so far due to earlier corrections. With improved earnings, a bigger loan book, and fresh investor interest, IREDA may continue to attract attention in the coming days.
