Data Patterns (India) saw its shares surge by over 6% following the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) sanctioning a new project under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme. The Chennai-based company has been tasked with developing a Radar Signal Processor.
DRDO has awarded a total of seven projects focused on the aerospace and defense sectors to various companies. This initiative aims to bolster India’s military industrial ecosystem by nurturing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and start-ups in these fields.
Among the notable recipients:
- Oxygen 2 Innovation: This Noida-based start-up will develop an indigenous toolkit for simulator training of pilots.
- Sagar Defence Engineering Pvt Ltd, Pune: Tasked with developing marine battlefield accessories.
- IROV Technologies Pvt Limited, Kochi: Assigned to create a long-range remotely operated vehicle to detect and neutralize underwater objects.
- Craftlogic Labs, Bengaluru: Will develop technology for detecting icing conditions on aircraft’s external surfaces.
- Accord Software, Bengaluru: To enable the indigenization of a timing acquisition and dissemination system.
- Alohatech Private, Coimbatore: Awarded a project to develop yarn and fabric-making processes using graphene nanomaterials.
The TDF scheme is designed to promote self-reliance in defence production for the Tri-Services, Defence Production, and DRDO. The indigenous development of these technologies is expected to significantly strengthen India’s defence capabilities.
“The aim is to nurture MSMEs and start-ups in the defence and aerospace sectors,” DRDO stated, highlighting the strategic importance of these projects in enhancing national security and technological self-sufficiency.
