Bikaji Foods International Ltd., a prominent player in India’s ethnic snacks industry, has announced its entry into the frozen food sector by acquiring a 55% stake in Ariba Foods Pvt. Ltd., a Ujjain-based company known for its frozen food products.
Approved at a board meeting on August 23, 2024, this ₹60.49 crore investment marks a strategic expansion for Bikaji, aiming to diversify its product offerings beyond its traditional snacks. This move aligns with Bikaji’s broader strategy to integrate Ariba’s expertise in frozen foods with its established market presence and distribution network, potentially unlocking new growth opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
Founded by the descendants of the renowned Haldiram family, Bikaji Foods is already a major player in the ethnic snacks segment, offering products like bhujia, namkeen, sweets, and ready-to-eat snacks. The acquisition of Ariba Foods is expected to enhance Bikaji’s competitiveness in the rapidly growing packaged foods sector, where there is increasing consumer demand for ready-to-eat and frozen products.
