Berger Paints Q2 Results

Berger Paints Q2 Results : Net Profit Rises 5.2% to ₹217 Crore, Revenue Grows 13.2%

Berger Paints India Limited reported a 5.2% year-on-year (YoY) increase in consolidated net profit to ₹217.10 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared with ₹206.38 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The company’s revenue from operations grew 13.2% to ₹3,200.37 crore from ₹2,827.49 crore in Q2 FY26.

However, growth in profitability remained slower than revenue growth as higher raw-material costs and delayed price increases weighed on margins during the September quarter.

The company’s consolidated total income stood at ₹3,232.09 crore during Q2 FY27, compared with ₹2,853.49 crore in the year-ago period.

Berger Paints Q2 Results : Operating Performance

Berger Paints reported consolidated PBDIT (profit before depreciation, interest and tax, excluding other income) of ₹370.67 crore in Q2 FY27, registering a growth of 5.2% compared with ₹352.25 crore in Q2 FY26.

The PBDIT margin declined to 11.6% from 12.5% in the corresponding quarter last year. Profit before tax increased 3.9% to ₹285.32 crore from ₹274.61 crore.

The company’s material costs increased to ₹1,942.32 crore from ₹1,652.40 crore in the year-ago quarter. Material costs accounted for 60.7% of consolidated revenue from operations, compared with 58.4% in Q2 FY26.

Raw-Material Inflation Puts Pressure on Margins

Berger Paints said double-digit raw-material inflation, the liquidation of high-cost inventory and delays in implementing price increases affected its gross margins during the quarter.

Consolidated gross margin declined to 38.1% from 40.1% in Q2 FY26. The company also highlighted that additional advertising and promotional expenditure of approximately ₹22 crore on its new ‘Rang Bana Rahe’ campaign affected quarterly operating margins.

To address the cost pressure, Berger Paints plans calibrated price increases across business segments, along with cost-efficiency measures and operational improvements.

Decorative and Industrial Businesses: Key Highlights

The company’s decorative paints business recorded approximately 10% value growth during Q2 FY27, supported by price increases. However, volume growth moderated as festive demand shifted towards the December quarter due to the later timing of Diwali.

The industrial business delivered high double-digit volume and value growth despite steep price increases. Automotive coatings performed well, supported by demand in the two-wheeler segment, while the general industrial business also recorded double-digit volume growth.

Berger Paints continued to strengthen its distribution network, with more than 2,000 retail stores and over 4,800 tinting machines as of the first half of FY27.

Berger Paints H1 FY27 Performance

For the first half of FY27, Berger Paints reported consolidated revenue from operations of ₹6,784.12 crore, registering growth of 12.5% compared with ₹6,028.25 crore in H1 FY26.

Consolidated PBDIT increased 11.1% to ₹978.11 crore from ₹880.66 crore. Net profit rose 19.3% to ₹622.11 crore compared with ₹521.42 crore in the corresponding six-month period last year.

Outlook: Price Increases and Cost-Efficiency Measures

Berger Paints plans to implement calibrated price increases in November to address higher raw-material costs and protect profitability. The company is also focusing on cost-efficiency initiatives and operational optimisation to support margin recovery.

The September-quarter performance reflects continued growth in the company’s revenue, although rising input costs and competitive pricing conditions affected the pace of profit growth. The shift in festive demand towards the December quarter is another factor to watch in the coming months.
