Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) announced on April 25 that Anant M. Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, has been appointed as a whole-time director of the company. His five-year term will begin from May 1, 2025, after shareholder approval.
Anant Ambani has already been serving as a non-executive director on Reliance Industries’ board. With this new role, he will now take up a more active executive position in India’s largest company by market value.
Besides his position at RIL, Anant Ambani is a director on the boards of various group companies. He is a director at Jio Platforms since March 2020, Reliance Retail Ventures since May 2022, and Reliance New Energy and Reliance New Solar Energy since June 2021. He is also a part of Reliance Foundation since September 2022.
Anant Ambani studied for his Bachelor’s at Brown University, US. Other than his professional duties, he also holds a keen interest in the welfare of animals and actively engages himself in rehabilitating and taking care of animals that are at risk.
His older siblings Akash and Isha Ambani are also an integral part of the Reliance group. Akash is the Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman and Isha serves as an executive director for Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd.
