L&T Wins Rs 2,500 Crore Order for Uzbekistan’s First AI-Enabled Data Centre

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has bagged a significant order, valued up to Rs 2,500 crore, to build Uzbekistan’s first AI-enabled and sustainable 10-Megawatt data centre in Tashkent, the company announced on January 28. The project will be executed through the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) model.

This data centre, in addition to state-of-the-art artificial intelligence operation, will have sustainability with a minimum environmental impact and maximum energy efficiency. L&T further added that robust security measures will be implemented for sensitive data and that this is going to be a benchmark for data centre infrastructure in the region.

V Satish, Member, Executive Committee, L&T, said, “This project underlines the capability of L&T to undertake complex and innovative projects globally. The Tashkent data centre is another feather in the cap for L&T Buildings & Factories vertical.”

L&T is expanding its presence in the data centre sector, with its 12 MW data centre in Chennai nearing completion. The company plans to scale the Chennai facility to 30 MW and aims to establish additional data centres in Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru.

The order book of the company continues to remain strong, with the total infrastructure order prospect for H2FY25 standing at Rs 5.42 trillion, comprising Rs 4.13 trillion from domestic projects. L&T’s international order book, valued at Rs 2.05 trillion, is dominated by Middle Eastern projects, contributing around 85% of the total.
