The Maharashtra government has declared a day of mourning on Thursday, October 10, to honor the late industrialist Ratan Tata, who passed away at the age of 86 in a Mumbai hospital. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s office confirmed the announcement, stating that the national tricolour on government buildings will be flown at half-mast.

Entertainment events will be suspended on the day as a mark of respect. Tata’s body will be kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in south Mumbai between 10 am and 4 pm for people to pay their last respects. Later in the evening, his last rites will be performed in the Worli area.
