L&T Semiconductor Acquires SiliConch for Rs 133 Crore to Strengthen Chip Design Capabilities

L&T Semiconductor Tech, a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has announced its acquisition of SiliConch Systems, a fabless semiconductor design company. The acquisition deal is valued at Rs 133 crore upfront, with an additional deferred payment of Rs 50 crore to be made over the next four years, according to an exchange filing by the company on July 9.

The acquisition of SiliConch Systems is expected to significantly enhance L&T Semiconductor’s capabilities in the fabless semiconductor sector. “The acquisition is expected to add IP, engineering skillsets, and design expertise to strengthen the Group’s presence in the fabless semiconductor business, aligning with the overall growth strategy of L&T Semiconductor,” the company stated.

SiliConch Systems specializes in the development of System-on-Chip (SoC) IP and employs 61 professionals. The company holds 30 patents across various geographies, making it a valuable addition to L&T Semiconductor’s portfolio.

This strategic move is anticipated to bolster L&T Semiconductor’s position in the semiconductor industry by integrating SiliConch’s innovative technologies and experienced workforce, further advancing its market presence and growth prospects.
