L&T Secures Mega Solar PV Orders in the Middle East

Larsen and Toubro Ltd. (L&T) announced that its renewable energy arm has secured ‘mega’ orders from a leading developer in the Middle East to construct two gigawatt-scale solar PV plants with a cumulative capacity of 3.5 GW. L&T classifies ‘mega’ orders as those ranging from ₹10,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore.

The project scope includes grid interconnections, pooling substations, and overhead transmission lines, with detailed engineering and initial construction set to commence shortly. These new orders will boost L&T’s renewables portfolio to 22 GWp, encompassing both solar and wind projects already commissioned or in development.

T Madhava Das, Whole-time Director and Senior Executive Vice-President (Utilities) at L&T highlighted that these orders reflect the company’s strong engineering and project management capabilities. “These successive order wins stand testimony to our proven engineering and project management capabilities,” Das said.

SN Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of L&T, emphasized the Middle East’s progress in sustainable energy infrastructure and welcomed the addition to L&T’s green portfolio. “These orders are welcome additions to our green portfolio,” Subrahmanyan stated.

In related news, last week, L&T’s energy hydrocarbon vertical recently secured an order from ONGC Ltd. for the eighth phase of the pipeline replacement project off India’s west coast, classified as “significant” with a value between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore.
